To the tune of “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”
Verse 1
My dear Father up in heaven,
You have spoken clear to me:
“Honour Dad and honour Mother—
This command brings life and peace.”
With a heart that’s full of kindness,
Help me serve them every day;
Show me how to give them honour,
In my thoughts and in my way.
Verse 2
Give me, Lord, a spirit humble,
Full of love and gentle grace.
Let me care for Dad and Mother,
With a smile upon my face.
When they’re tired or growing older,
Let me help them joyfully—
Serving them with tender mercy,
Just the way you care for me.
Verse 3
If I’m rich or have a little,
Still, I’ll gladly give and share.
With my words and with my actions,
Let them always feel my care.
When I sow in love and honour,
I will reap good things in time.
Let me keep this holy promise,
With a heart that seeks what’s kind.
Verse 4
If they’ve hurt me, Lord, I’ll trust you—
Give me grace to still forgive.
Wipe away all pain and sorrow,
Teach me love as long as I live.
May I honour both my parents,
Even when it’s hard to do.
Let me walk the path of mercy,
As I walk each day with you.
Verse 5
On this special day of honour,
Dad and Mum, we sing and pray—
Thanking God for all you’ve given,
Loving you in every way.
Father God, you see our families,
Help us walk in your great plan.
Let our homes be filled with honour,
Built on love and in your hand.
An Anointed Eighty
A Birthday Blessing for My Beloved
Happy 80th Birthday to you, my beloved,
A person of grace, of prayer, of power.
May God still use you in mighty ways,
As He used Moses in his later days.
When others thought their strength had flown,
God’s purpose in them still brightly shone.
So too, may His hand rest upon you,
To free the weary and lift the true.
Remember always — God’s calling stands,
Through every season, in every land.
He waits for hearts both humble and wise,
To shine His light and open new skies.
May your years yet stretch and bloom,
As Aaron’s prayers filled heaven’s room.
Be priestly in spirit, steadfast in care,
Interceding for many in quiet prayer.
And may your 85th come with cheer,
Like Caleb’s courage, strong and clear.
To climb new hills, to face each test,
Still trusting the Lord to give you rest.
Faith-filled warrior, senior and sage,
Claim new ground at every age.
For the battle is won, the victory sure,
With Christ beside you, steadfast and pure.
And if the Lord so grants your days,
May you see a century of praise.
For God’s sweet promises, rich and deep,
Are ripened in hearts His Word will keep.
So rise, dear beloved, chosen and true,
God still has mighty things for you to do.
His grace has carried you all the way through —
Happy 80th Birthday — we celebrate you!
“They will still bear fruit in old age;
They will stay fresh and green,
proclaiming, ‘The Lord is upright;
He is my Rock.’
— Psalm 92:14–15
Be of Good Courage- John 16:33
Jesus tells us plainly: in this world
There will be trials, heavy and real—
Some born of choices we ourselves have made,
Some placed upon us by another’s will.
Yet still He says, Take heart, be brave,
For I am near, I have prevailed.
The world is conquered, hope stands firm-
So, trust the Lord, though paths are veiled.
Even creation groans and storms arise,
The earth itself can turn unkind;
He never vowed to lift us out,
But promised presence in the tide.
A faithful friend through fire and flood,
In raging seas and blazing flame,
He will not fail—surrender all,
Though peace seems far, His love remains.
Deliverance may tarry still,
Yet grace abounds in waiting hours;
His rescue plan lies veiled from sight,
But time itself bows to His power.
He meets us each in ways unseen,
No soul forgotten, none the same;
For some, an angel breaks the night,
For others, strength to bear the pain.
What He allows is shaped by love,
By wisdom deeper than our view;
Be of good courage—trust His heart,
For all He does is working good.
A New Year’s Prayer
The year now past—its joys and trials—
We place within God’s gentle hands.
For every step, through light and shadows,
He walked with us across the lands.
We thank you, friends, for journeying near,
For shared faith carried through each day.
Now dawn breaks bright with hope renewed,
A New Year rising on our way.
May fireworks of joy surround your path,
And grace shine warm in all you do.
And if your days feel dim, not sparkling—
Know this: we lift our prayers for you.
